We ask that speakers share their slides or recorded presentations by 12h00 midday on Thursday 26th June. This will enable the conference organizers to prepare for each session in advance, so we use the available time efficiently.
As the sessions are streamed online, it is not practical for speakers to use their own laptops or devices to share presentations from. UK academic institutions have also recently been targeted by Cyber-attackers and we have also received advice not to allow speakers to use their laptops in order to protect from viruses.
To this end we have created a set of folders which speakers can access through the links provided below. The folders are arranged chronologically by day and session time. Once we have received speakers’ slides, the conference organizers will save them to subfolders for each session.
If you are an in-person delegate:
Once your slides are in their definitive, final form save them as a PowerPoint file preferably, or alternatively as PDF (but not Pages);
Use an easily identifiable filename, ideally in the format ‘SurnameForename_day_session start time’ (i.e., ‘SmithJohn_Wednesday_1000’);
Confirm the time of your session (see the online Conference programme);
Using the relevant link below, upload your file to the correct day and time slot: so, if you are the fictitious John Smith, you’ll upload your slides via the seventh of the thirteen links, which pertains to the first session at Durham on the morning of Wednesday 2nd July, beginning at 1000 or 10.00am.
By all means, save the same file to Cloud, USB stick, or other storage medium as backup.
Instructions for remote speakers:
Please record the final version of your paper as a video file, timed to 20 minutes or less: we strongly recommend MP4 or similar compressed codec;
Listen to your presentation to check that all speech is audible, and all texts and graphics are visible;
Use an easily identifiable filename, ideally in the format ‘SurnameForename_day_session start time’ (i.e., ‘JonesDavid_Tuesday_1600’);
Confirm the time of your session (see the online Conference programme);
Using the relevant link below, upload your movie to the correct day and time slot: so, if you are the fictitious David Jones, you’ll upload your file via the sixth of the thirteen links, which pertains to the final session at Newcastle on Tuesday 1st July, beginning at 1600 or 4.00pm.
Slide format: screen resolutions vary, but we recommend aspect ratio 16:9, 1920 x 1820 pixels. Remember that stave lines can disappear when a musical score is displayed at a much-reduced scale.
