EarlyMuse is offering ten grants of €1.000 each to support young researchers (under age 40) from COST Inclusiveness Target Countries who have been invited to present work relevant to the goals of EarlyMuse. The call is restricted to conferences occurring within Europe before 31 August 2025. Any relevant European conference is acceptable, for example MedRen 2025 at Newcastle upon Tyne, or the many specialist conferences on offer that relate to the work of EarlyMuse. In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants have to be accepted as a presenter at the intended conference and be member of one of the EarlyMuse Working Groups.

The Septenary Foundation is a charity registered in the UK (1178218), established to support independent performer-researchers working in the field of Historically Informed Performance. We use the proceeds from sales of printed and PDF music, and of our improvisation and ornamentation app Passaggi to provide conference grants, research grants, and continuing education opportunities for freelance musicians who do research.
We have two travel and accommodation bursaries available for those presenting at MedRen, Newcastle (30th June-4th July). If you would like to apply, please download the application form from the website below and read the guidance notes on eligibility. Each award is worth up to £250 and at least one will be allocated to a UK-based applicant. Please return completed forms to the email address provided by Friday 16th May 2025.
