Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference 2025

Welcome to the Medieval & Renaissance Music Conference 2025

We look forward to welcoming you to the historic cities of Durham and Newcastle upon Tyne between 30 June and 4 July 2025.

MedRen 2025 is a first, as it is hosted jointly by a consortium of three universities: Newcastle University (30 June and 1 July); the University of Durham (Wednesday 2 July), and the University of Northumbria at Newcastle (3 and 4 July).

The conference dinner will be held at the Civic Centre, Newcastle, on Thursday 3 July.

We will continue to update this website with more information as we get closer to the conference.

Conference themes

We welcome proposals for papers, posters and panels on any topic pertaining to Medieval and Renaissance Music, but particularly those relating to one or more of the following themes: the North (widely defined), borders, migrations, Orlando Gibbons and his era, vernacular and popular traditions, materiality and the senses,  music editing, reconstruction.
